The Catcher in the Rye
This book may be written decades ago but it fired up true facts we can still relate to our generation. Phonies still exist. The pressure will always be there as you explore your teenage life and so are vices (more often than not), goddamn situations and cliches like those predictable movies deliver.
Boy, Holden Caulfield surely killed me with his witty punchlines, personal issues, swearing, curses, angst and all. Aside from Holden and his hunting hat, I was taken away by Phoebe (his younger sister), too. The metaphors got me like a madman. There would always be a catcher in our lives, they might appear in advance or just in the nick of time but one thing’s for sure, they’ll be there before we hit the hard fall.
Four out of five (too much repetition, though I know it’s part of the flow.) Still, Catcher in the Rye’s tradition lives on. J.D. Salinger ensured his readers to have a grasp of different perspectives in regards to the “growing up” reality. Helluva good read!
