For the diptych photos, I guess you should have a good symmetry of the subject/view you want to manip, keep it in line (well that’s what I do). And yeah, skies are nice to play with the diptych effect, too!

For the long exposure thing, TRIPOD is recommended! Though I don’t actually use tripod in my long exp shots, just go to a place where cars are on the go (as in smooth traffic) and have a steady platform to place your camera and I guess you’re good to go! :)
